Office Policy

Comprehensive and Enforceable Rights

We conduct in-depth consultations with our clients and analyze information from multiple perspectives. Our goal is to secure comprehensive and highly enforceable rights.

High Value-Added Services

Leveraging our diverse experience and expertise, we provide high value-added services by offering comprehensive support and advice throughout every stage—from consultation and drafting to prosecution and post-registration.

Identify the examiner’s true intent

We carefully scrutinize office actions to read between the lines and identify the examiner’s true intent. This enables us to respond precisely and effectively to their arguments.

Global Reach and Support

Even if an international filing is not initially envisioned, we proactively incorporate U.S. patent practices into our drafting. This proactive strategy facilitates a seamless expansion into global markets whenever the need arises.

To Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and Individual Inventors

For SMEs without a dedicated IP department, if you believe that intellectual property—such as patents and designs—is unnecessary simply because you have managed without it so far, you may eventually be caught off guard. Here are the reasons why:
  1) Even if a product is developed independently, it may still infringe upon the patent or design rights of other companies.
      2) Disclosing your products on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) or Instagram makes it easy for competitors to imitate them.

Conducting a prior art search at the product development stage is an essential task; it allows you to preemptively avoid the risk of infringing on other companies' patents. Furthermore, as a rule, patent applications should be completed before a new product is publicly announced. Additionally, it is premature to assume that you can handle the application process yourself simply because it is in Japanese. Relying on a professional patent firm is a crucial investment, not just a cost. The reason is that the "Claims" define the very scope of your future rights. To secure the broadest possible protection, one must be meticulous about every detail—from the choice of terminology to the structural relationship of modifiers and the logical order of descriptions. This level of precision is far beyond the reach of a layperson.
When we receive an application request from an SME or an individual inventor, we conduct our own independent prior art search as a precaution, even if the client has already completed one (this service is provided free of charge). Regarding the content of the application documents, we provide thorough and courteous explanations to address any questions, ensuring that the filing proceeds only after the client is fully satisfied. During the examination process, we provide clear and thorough explanations regarding the examiner’s arguments and any necessary amendments for securing your rights, so you can leave the process in our hands with confidence. Furthermore, we handle post-grant negotiations with other companies with the utmost integrity. We also offer a wide range of services, including IP consultations, searches, and strategic consulting. Please feel free to contact us with any intellectual property concerns.

If you have any questions or would like a consultation, please contact us via the email address below (or by phone).
Our professional fees are based on standard industry rates. We will provide specific quotes individually upon request via email. In principle, we hold detailed consultations in person after being retained; however, we can discuss the specific meeting location separately. While we generally visit our clients' offices, for those in remote locations, we can also accommodate online meetings using tools such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
